Tank Volume
« am: Oktober 20, 2010, 13:12:01 Nachmittag »
If i use an MFD with a 0-5m/0-10v transducer is it possible for me to show the tank level on the screen aswell as the meters cube of water in the tank so the customer can see how much he has at the start of the day. The tank is 4.116m height and 14.5m diameter. Cheers

Dear srd.

This task can be done.

By measuring the hydrostatic pressure you also know the height of liquid column above the transducer as long as you know the density of the fluid. If you have changing medium types
with different densities you may have to make an adoption.

By knowing the height and diameter you are able to calculate the volume.

Please note that you only can measure the height above the sensor position. In case the tank
outlet is lower than the sensor position you have to add a fixed amount of volume.

Dear srd.

There is an additional remark. You are mentioning a 0-5m / 0-10V transducer. Is this
sensor already calibrated for the fluid? If yes you do not need to know the density and
the task is a little easier.
