we need to reset a counter on the 1st of every month at 10:00 and reset another counter on the 1st of jan at 10:00 every year. when doing a plausability check it always says the the yearly counter (HY) should have at least one on off day month year. For the monthly we have just put 1 in the day for on and off and a 1 in the day and month for the yearly one. Should this work or is there another way we should be doing it.

In the attached example there is no problem with the plausibility check.
For the simulation with time lapse you will probably have to set the daily switching time to 12 hours.
You can carry out the desired reset with the rising edges.
